The minister of health, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng has said that there is currently no evidence of community transmissions of the coronavirus novel in communities of Uganda.
Dr. Acheng made these remarks while addressing the nation yesterday at the Uganda Media Center about the preliminary results of rapid assessment survey.
The government started the process of mass testing which they termed as the rapid assessment survey in March. The rapid assessment survey is aimed at curbing the transmission of Covid-19.
“The ministry has developed various proposals and these will be implemented going forward. There is no evidence of community transmission of coronavirus at the moment,” Acheng said.
Acheng, however, expressed worry about the risk of potential areas like porous borders, communities around and contacts of previous positive cases. She urged people around these areas to be vigilant and follow the guidelines issued by the ministry.
The country has registered more than 40 new cases in a period of just one week all from truck drivers.
The number of coronavirus cases currently stands at 160.
