People Power patron Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine has rubbished social media rumours that have been indicating that he will not participate in the forthcoming 2021 general elections due to uncertainties.

“There were suggestions that I was quitting the presidential race. Ladies and gentlemen, I have told the nation before I’m going to challenge President Museveni in the next general elections and I have not taken back that word. I have not changed my mind. I want to say it again for those that are still doubting that I Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, on behalf of the marginalized Ugandans will challenge President Museveni in the next elections,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi also indicated that people power was in advanced stages of negotiations with other political players for a possible partnership to front a joint candidate.

“We are in advanced stages of collaborating with other forces of change because we know we need to do this together. Whoever is sending out that narrative is probably trying to demoralize our people. Our people should stay charged. They should stay focused. We are in touch with all the leaders and we intend to attain the maximum unity in order to send President Museveni parking,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi’s revelation, however, comes at a time when there is looming uncertainty in the country whether the forthcoming general elections shall be conducted with the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic in Uganda and the world at large.

Last month, while speaking on a local television in Uganda, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said that it would be madness to conduct elections when we still have coronavirus in the world.

“if the virus can stop around June, Then we can have elections. we don’t have to have a long period of campaigns, Elections are not a big issue, we can organize quickly.” Museveni said.
