Chinese Businessman Rescued from Day-Time Robbery


The police in Kampala has arrested a one Yosam Kiyingi on allegations of attacking a Chinese businessman, Cheng Haitoa.

According to the police, Kiyingi and two others still at large attacked and assaulted Haitoa on Tuesday

Kiyingi and his two colleagues attempted to steal 200million from the Chinese in broad daylight. This happened along Dewinton Road at around 4: 30pm.

“Fortunately, the public and the officers nearby responded and managed to stop the attempted robbery of money totalling to Shs200 million,” reads the statement by the police

“The money was recovered and handed over to the owner. Two of Kiyingi’s colleagues disappeared in the crowd and police are currently looking for them.”

The police impounded a motorcycle, UFB 295A that was being ridden by the suspects.

The Chinese businessman sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Nakasero hospital.
