Nabilah Hints at Joining Mugisha Muntu’s ANT

Days after the Forum For The Democratic (FDC) Party declined to receive Hon. Nabilah Nagayi’s nomination forms for the post of Kampala Lord Mayorship, Hon. Naggayi has hinted at defecting from FDC party to the Alliance for National Transformation party(ANT).

The legislator stated this while appearing on a local television talk show on Tuesday 29 July.

“The Alliance for National Transformation party is following me, I will tell you the rest when the time comes,” Nabilah said.

Nabilah is the current Kampala Woman MP. She has revealed in various interviews that she is being pushed out of the FDC. She has publicly had a spat with some FDC leaders including the secretary-general, Nandala Mafabi.

Nabilah had, however, vowed not to leave the party saying that she would not accept to be thrown out of a party that she has worked so hard to build. She says there are only two people in the FDC fighting her and the two are in top positions.

It will not be a surprise if she joins ANT. Nabilah is one of those who supported Mugisha Muntu to retain his seat as position as FDC president. Muntu lost to Patrick Amuriat Obbo.

After the loss, Muntu left the party. Many of the members who were aligning with him have since left FDC, some like Paul Mwiru have joined him. Others are yet to announce where they belong.

Speaking to Journalists this week, FDC’s Dr Kizza Besigye noted that the defection of party members was a relief to the party.

“For me, it’s quite a relief seeing political leaders leaving the party because when someone’s mind is not at par with what the party believes in, their continued stay then becomes problematic, thank God they left,” Besigye said.

About 600 FDC Members only have defected from the party in the last two weeks. Among these include, Hon. Angelina Osegge, Hon. Elijah Okupa, Hon. Herbert Ariko, Hon. Reagan Ojumu, Hon. Ogenga Latigo, Hon.Nabilah Nagayi, Hon. Robert Centenary, Hon. Samuel Odonga Otto, Hon. Abdul Katuntu, Hon. Francis Gonahasa, Hon. Jack Wamanga Wamai, Hon.Winnie Kizza, among others.
