Staff members at the Uganda Electricity Generation Limited (UEGCL) have been asked to go into self-quarantine after one member of staff tested positive for COVID-19.
UEGL announced this development through statement on social media
“UEGCL informs the general public that 1 COVID-19 case has been confirmed at Head Office. Accordingly, UEGCL has strengthened existing safety guidelines inline with guidance provided by the Ministry of Health,”
“In this regard, all staff at our Head Office will immediately go into self-isolation for the next 14 days and as such, will be working from home.”
Members of the public will not be allowed to visit the head office until further notice.
In the recent days, a number of institutions have taken the same stance after members of their staff testing positive. They include; Ministry of Finance, Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA), Toyota among others
The number of coronavirus cases is soaring with Kampala identified as the new hotspot. Public figures like AIGP Asan Kasingye, Isaac Rucci are among those that have declared they have tested positive.
