President Yoweri Museveni has reappointed Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Keinerugaba as the commander of the Special Forces Command – SFC, The Tower Post reports.
Muhoozi who was the founding commander of the elite force had left his post in 2017 after he was appointed as the Senior Presidential adviser in charge of special operations.
He would later be replaced by Maj. Gen. Don Nabasa in 2017.
In 2019, Gen. Nabasa was sent for further training and replaced by Maj. Gen. James who has been leading the force that is charged with among others, providing security to the President and the first family.
Despite his reappointment to the SFC, Muhoozi retains his position as the Senior Presidential adviser in charge of Special Operations.
In more transfers, Maj. Gen Paul Loketch has been transferred from the Uganda People’s Defence Airforce – UPDAF to the Police and named Deputy Inspector General of Police, replacing Maj. Gen. Sabiiti Muzeeyi.
Gen Muzeeyi has been relieved of his duties and sent to the General Headquarters for redeployment.
The former SFC Commander Maj. Gen. James Birungi goes has been sent to South Sudan for special assignments.
