National Resistance Movement – NRM Presidential Candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has expressed his displeasure in being stopped from conducting campaigns yet he has never broken any rules.
“We were not breaking any rules in our campaigns, I ensured I never addressed rallies, not get out to wave or gather supporters,” Museveni posted on his Twitter.
Due to increased cases of Covid19 in some major areas, the Electoral Commission suspended campaigns in 20 major districts in Uganda including Masaka, Wakiso, Kampala, Jinja, Fort Portal, Tororo among others.
Museveni who had covered most of the regions in the country and only left with the Central decried the Electoral Commission’s generalization of all candidate yet he followed guidelines.
He however pledged to that the NRM shall oblige to the directives despite being unfair.3
“The EC bundled us with those violating rules but we shall oblige no matter how unfair it is to us,” the President further said.
Since the directive was issued, President Museveni has missed two campaign meetings in Mukono and in Wakiso where he was supposed to campaign today.
He has since resorted to addressing the voters through televisions and local radio stations.
Today, President Museveni will officiate the groundbreaking of the Kira-Kasangati road in Wakiso District before addressing his voters via radio stations.
