Bobi Wine Explains Why He Evacuated His Family a Week to Elections

Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has come out to explain why his family fled the country on Wednesday evening.

Bobi Wine’s four children; Kyagulanyi Sekayi Solomon Kampala, Mbogo Shadrack, Namagembe Shalom and Suubi Shine Nakayi all left the country together with their maternal Aunt Jolly Asiimwe and their maternal uncle headed for the United States.

Unconfirmed reports say they were headed to Texas where they would stay with their aunt in the Texas Military Garrisom.

The move attracted criticism from a number of Ugandans who said he was securing his family while getting ready to put other youthful Ugandans in harm’s way.

But Bobi Wine explained that he received information that his family was being targeted and that it was in danger.

“For several months, my team and I have been placed in great danger by the regime,” he said.

He further cited an incidence during the Age Limit removal crisis when a grenade was thrown in his son’s bedroom.

“They wanted to kill him,” he said.

The presidential hopeful further revealed that he received intel that his family was being trailed and there were plans to abduct them and use them as bargaining chips to get him to give up on presidential ambitions.

“Recently, some vehicles have been following my children and my wife around. I have been forced to change their schools.”

“I am told they wanted to grab one or two of my children, put a gun on their heads and get me to say things I don’t believe in,” he said.
