Plascon Injects Shs 200M in Stanbic Uganda Cup

Kansai Plascon Uganda has agreed a two-year partnership with the Uganda Cup. This was communicated today at a press briefing at which the paint company’s sponsorship package worth 132M was revealed by the tournament managers.

Some of the sponsorship rights and benefits for Plascon include; recognition as an official sponsor in all the tournament communications, branding and activations during official Uganda Cup events.

The Plascon Uganda Managing Director Santosh Gumte described the sponsorship package as a pilot undertaking pointing to the likelihood of a contract extension if both parties meet and perhaps exceed their contractual obligations.

“As you all may know, we are involved in a couple of other sports sponsorships but the Uganda Cup is special. We are very proud to be associated with a tournament of this stature especially given its long history since the 1970s and scale; that it is played across all the five football divisions. This gives us a firm platform upon which Plascon can grow the sport from the grassroots as the brand also grows its reach and appeal across the country. It is a mutually beneficial relationship,” said Mr. Gumte.

The Uganda Cup managers represented by Mr. Obal Atubo were grateful to Plascon for the commitment, which they interpreted as a sign of the great work the team is doing in running the annual knock-out tournament.

“To us this is much more than a sponsorship. It’s a stamp of approval that whatever we are doing is being appreciated to such a degree that a brand of Plascon’s stature is willing to invest in the tournament. To this we are grateful; but also cognizant of the weight of responsibility upon our shoulders. We pledge to surpass Plascon’s expectations and make it easy for them to commit to longer sponsorship period,” said Mr. Obal.

As part of its marketing and hospitality rights, Plascon has the leeway to use the Uganda Cup logo for promotions and will be allocated space for tent to host its guests at all matches during the tournament, respectively.
