Police in Kasese district are holding one of their own for shooting his wife dead.
The fatal shooting happened in Burambira cell, Kikongo ward, Rugendabara town council.
The regional police spokesperson for Rwenzori East, ASP Nelson Tumushime identifies the suspect as Cpl. Serdick Nickson Kamara, attached to Rubirizi central police station in Rubirizi district.
Kamara reportedly shot his wife, 28-year-old Zureha Muhindo at around 6:00pm, killing her instantly after developing a misunderstanding.
Tumushime says they have already started investigations to establish details of the incident.
“True, we have arrested the officer for killing his wife, we have already launched our investigations into the incident to get more details,” Tumushime confirmed to URN.
Joseph Thembo, one of the locals who was at a nearby shop at the time of the incident said they heard gun shots emerging from the house and reaching there, they found Muhindo lying in a pool of blood as the husband was already escaping from the house.
Medius Masika, another resident said the policeman believed his wife had been unfaithful to their relationship.
She says on occasions the two would have confrontations even in public.
Luka Kiiza, the deceased’s uncle has asked the police to expedite the investigation and ensure the culprit is punished according to the laws.
