12 Arrested Over Recent Day-Time Robbery by Boda Gang

Police in Kampala has arrested at least 12 people in connection to the day-time robbery of an Indian man on Mawanda road, Kamwokya, Kampala.

This was revealed by Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga during a weekly security briefing on Monday morning.

“12 suspects have been arrested, and three motorcycles retrieved following a heightened Intelligence led operation as helped by CCTV police cameras against these motorcycle organized gangs,” Twine said.

In the incident which was captured on CCTV cameras, an Indian man Jiwan Lal, an accountant working with Rigil Agrotech Company in Kololo was attacked by a swarm of boda boda men on seven motorcycles, assaulted by the gang and robbed of Shs 5million which he was carrying in a bag.

The gang which looked highly organized was able to carry out their attack and took off with the money in a very short time.

Police says with the help of the CCTV footage, they have been able to arrest 12 of the robbers.

“Suspects confess to the crime and properly guided the police to scene reconstruction,” Enanga added.

He further revealed that among the arrested arrested is a landlord who used to house the group whereas the gang leader escaped when he jumped over a fence in Kyengera.
