The Federation of Uganda Football Associations – FUFA has officially unveiled Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho as the new Head Coach of the National football team Uganda Cranes.
The unveiling happened on Tuesday morning at a function held at the FUFA House in Mengo, Kampala.
Micho who was appointed on Tuesday July 27th becomes Uganda Cranes’ Head Coach for the second time having led the team between May 2013 and July 2017.
He took over the team after FUFA fired his predecessor Bobby Williamson and proceeded to lead it to the 2014 CHAN competitions where the country had a fairly good performance.
Micho’s first stint as the National team coach remains historic after he led the team to qualify for the Africa Nations cup for the first time in over three decades.
For his second time, he has been handed the task of leading Uganda Cranes through the qualification campaign for the 2026 world cup.
“The objective is to qualify for the World Cup in 2026. It does not come overnight. You need time and experience. I ask Ugandans to be very, very patient since we are in a transition,” Fufa President Magogo told Micho at the unveiling.
“I believe Coach Micho has come back even better than he was because football is all about experience. The longer you stay around football, the better you understand it and if we were able to get success then, what about now,” Magogo added.
On his part, Micho thanked the Federation for giving him another opportunity to work with the Uganda Cranes saying it had been his dream to come back despite the conditions under which he left.
“I was born in Serbia but football wise, I was born in Africa specifically Uganda at Villa Park,” he said.
Micho is an SC Villa legend having started his African coaching tour at Villa Park.
During his time, the Serbian tactician led the Jogoos to win three consecutive league titles (2001–2002, 2002–2003 and 2003–2004), but the 2001/2 season will forever remain memorable in the history books of Uganda’s football as Villa won the league title with only one loss in 28 games.
