The court case challenging the victory of Kawempe North legislator Muhammad Segirinya has been revived, The Tower Post reports.
Segirinya, a strong cadre of opposition National Unity Platform – NUP and close confidant of the party president Robert Kyagulanyi emerged winner in the January 14th general elections beating competition from Sulaiman Kidandala who ran as an independent candidate.
Kidandala, through his lawyers argue that despite the fact that Segirinya won the election, he doesn’t have the requisite academic documents for one to run for MP.
According to Kenneth Paul Kakande, one of the lawyers representing Kidandala, Segirinya is yet to file a response.
Kakande says that the legislator claims he was served late but adds that it should be no excuse for him to run away.
