High Court in Masaka has ordered fresh elections in Bukomansimbi North constituency after nullifying the victory of the incumbent Member of Parliament Christine Ndagire Ndiwalana.
Ndagire who had won the polls running on the National Unity Platform – NUP ticket was challenged in court by NRM’s Ruth Katushabe who claimed that the former had no requisite academic documents to run for MP.
In her ruling, Justice Katra Katunguka said that Ndagire had inconsistencies in her academic documents and her eventual nomination for the post.
Court further ruled that Ndagire lied under oath about her academic documents and failed to present certified original copies when asked to.
She had alleged that she had a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and a certificate in nursing and midwifery.
Fresh elections have been ordered in the constituency.
