Police in Kampala has arrested Kassada County South Member of Parliament Frank Kabuye following the gruesome murder of a student at Makerere University during guild presidential election rallies.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, Kabuye was arrested together with a one Allan Ssekidde and Kabuurwa Muzafaru.
The trio is said to have been leading the National Unity Platform – NUP team which attacked and murdered the student.
The deceased, Bewoti Betungura, a law student at Uganda Christian University was residing in Makerere Kikoni.
He had joined the Forum for Democratic Change – FDC camp to campaign and rally support for Justus Tukamushaba, the party’s flag bearer.
Towards the final campaigns at the Makerere Rugby Grounds, chaos ensued as FDC supporters tried to enter the grounds which were already dominated by the NUP.
In the scuffle, Betungura was stabbed with broken bottle which ended his life.
MP Kabuye is the shadow minister for Youths and Children Affairs.
