SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to seeing all the action from the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, live from Playa del Carmen in Mexico from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 November 2022.
SuperSport is the ultimate destination for Golf fans, with an unparalleled selection of action from around the world.
The WWT Championship will be played for the 16th time in 2022, with Norwegian Viktor Hovland the two-time reigning champion after victories by one and four strokes in 2020 and 2021 respectively.
The 25-year-old is set to return to Mexico to try and claim a hat-trick of triumphs, and he recently spoke out against the Saudi-backed LIV Tour.
“I don’t know all the different regulations and how difficult it is to get World Ranking points,” said Hovland. “I just think at the end of the day, if you want to get World Ranking points, you obviously have to follow the process.
“They’re obviously making an effort to get those points, but I don’t think it’s right to give them an exemption to just get points overnight. They obviously have to follow the process, whatever the process might be.
“At the same time, they have some really good players over there and if some of those players drops outside the top-100 in the world, that’s not good for the World Rankings, either. So I don’t really know what the right answer is, but you can’t just make up new rules as you go.”
Another player to watch at Mayakoba is Collin Morikawa, who has been confirmed for the tournament in Mexico.
“Collin Morikawa is such an exciting addition to our field,” said Joe Mazzeo, event director. “He is an incredible player and a true gentleman; I know our fans will enjoy getting to watch Collin tackle El Camaleon.”
In addition, the field will also feature the likes of Tony Finau, Billy Horschel, Jason Day, Lucas Glover, Francesco Molinari and Justin Rose, while this will be the first edition of the WWT Championship to have spectators in attendance since the Covid-19 outbreak of 2020.
The El Camaleon Golf Club features a 7071-yard par 71 course, and the WWT Championship at Mayakoba has a purse of $8.2million.
