10-Man Bul FC Sends Arua Hill to Bottom of UPL Table

Arua Hill’s quest for their first win in the 2023/2024 Uganda Premier League season continues following a 1-2 defeat to 10-man BUL FC at Paridi Ground.

Substitute Lawrence Tezikya sealed the victory after Okumu John Rogers had equalized Alex Kitata’s opener in the first half.

BUL FC finished the game with 10 players as Benon Tahomera received a straight red card in the second half.

This marks a challenging start for Livingston Mbabazi’s team, as they have lost all three of their opening matches, falling to Busoga United and Vipers as well.

Despite a bright start from BUL FC, debutant goalkeeper Abubaker Kasimba kept them at bay.

However, Kitata managed to break the deadlock with a close-range tap-in in the 28th minute, assisted by Joel Madondo.

Arua Hill quickly responded with Okumu’s header from Gadafi Wahab’s corner kick, securing their first goal of the season just six minutes later.

In the second half, the hosts dominated but failed to convert their dominance into goals.

Ibrahim Orit, making his Arua Hill debut, and Okumu both missed opportunities to take the lead.

Tahomera received a red card in the 66th minute for a high boot challenge on Rashid Kawawa, becoming the first player to be sent off this season.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, BUL FC regained the lead in the 73rd minute, as Tezikya scored his second of the campaign, capitalizing on a flick by Kitata from Nicholas Mwere’s long throw-in.

This proved to be the winning goal, despite Arua Hill’s attempts to level the scores.

The victory means that BUL FC has now secured maximum points from their first three matches, defeating Bright Stars and KCCA.

Okumu’s equalizer was the first goal conceded by BUL FC this season.

The Kongolo team has yet to earn any points since moving to Paridi Ground in Adjumani, suffering defeats to Jinja-based teams.
