Red Banton Cautions Lil Pazo Against Mixing Music With Politics

Veteran singer Red Banton has urged fellow artist Lil Pazo to tread carefully when engaging in politics, following backlash over his recent performance at an NRM event.

Last week, Lil Pazo took the stage at a rally organized by NRM Chief Mobilizer Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo in Mubende, a move that drew criticism from some of his fans, particularly those affiliated with NUP.

In response to the criticism, Lil Pazo released a video defending his decision, stating that he will perform at any event regardless of political affiliations, as long as he is paid for his services.

However, in a TikTok live session, Red Banton advised him to stay focused on making music and steer clear of politics, reminding him of a near-death experience he had in Gulu in 2021, when a political discussion took a dangerous turn.

“Lil Pazo, take it easy on politics. Leave politics alone and concentrate on music. You almost lost your life in Gulu because of politics,” Red Banton cautioned.

His advice serves as a reminder of the risks musicians face when engaging in Uganda’s political landscape.
