Kansai Plascon sponsored Uganda Premier League giant Vipers Sports Club made yet another historic milestone sealing their second domestic double after winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup on Saturday.
The Plascon Venoms who were already champions of the Uganda Premier league triumphed over arch-rivals KCCA FC in a hotly contested final played at the Fufa Stadium, Kadiba in Rubaga Division, Kampala.
A goal in either half from defender Livingstone Mulondo and forward Yunus Junior Sentamu gave the Kitende based side a 2-0 victory over KCCA FC who have won the gong 10 times.
Vipers started the game on a high note with Mulondo’s 5th minute goal off a well curled in corner by Cranes International, Allan Okello.
KCCA put up a spirited fight but couldn’t find the back of the net for the first half despite several attempts made.
Yunus Ssentamu made things even worse for the Kasasiro boys in the 55th minute when he doubled the lead for the Plascon Venoms with a thubnderous volley after a miskick by defender Peter Magambo.
This becomes the fourth Uganda Cup victory for Vipers following wins in 2015-16, 2019-2020 and 2022-2023 seasons.
“As proud sponsors of both the Stanbic Uganda Cup and Vipers SC, today’s victory represents everything we stand for – excellence at all levels of the game,” said Daniel Kayongo, Kansai Plascon’s Brand Manager in an interview with media.
“While we celebrate Vipers’ achievement, we’re equally proud to support a tournament that elevates Ugandan football as a whole,” he added, highlighting the significance of their dual investment in Ugandan football.
