UPDF Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence Found Dead in Luwero

Brigadier General Tom Kikoyo Kabuye, the Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence, has passed away.

Family members confirmed that the senior Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officer was found dead on Sunday morning in Kikyusa Town Council, Luwero District.

“With a heavy heart, I regret to announce the untimely death of one of our own members and great sons of Luwero District. Brig. Gen. Tom Kabuye was discovered this morning at Kikyusa Town Council. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” a family statement read.

Kabuye, who until his death was serving as Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence, was one of the most senior figures in Uganda’s security establishment.

The exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed. However, sources close to the family revealed that he had been battling health complications since suffering a stroke two years ago. His condition is said to have worsened in recent months.

Career and Service

A native of Luwero District, Brig. Gen. Kabuye was among the officers who steadily rose through the ranks of the UPDF after years of dedicated service. Over the years, he built a reputation as a disciplined and results-oriented officer, respected both within the army and the broader security sector.

In his capacity as Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence, Kabuye played a critical role in overseeing intelligence operations and providing strategic guidance in safeguarding national security. His colleagues often described him as a committed officer whose insights greatly shaped Uganda’s military intelligence framework.

His passing marks the loss of a key figure in the country’s defence establishment and a respected son of Luwero.
