Police in Kampala have confirmed that Mubarak Kalenge, a Kampala International University lecturer and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) lawyer, abducted on Sunday has been found but is injured and currently hospitalised.
Mubarak Kalenge, also a lawyer with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA),had reportedly gone for coffee at Afro American restaurant in Bukoto, about seven kilometres north-east of Kampala’s central business district.
His family have taken to social media for clues. A message circulated Monday evening read: “Dear friends, Our Brother Mubraka Kalenge was kidnapped from Bukoto Afro American Restaurant at gun point at 8pm on Sunday. If you have seen him, please call this number: 0704194232, 0772460403, 0702460403 . We need your support. Kindly circulate widely. Thank you very much.”
Reports indicated that Kalenge was picked from the restaurant by strange people who sped away. But we could not independently verify these reports.
