UCU to Launch School of Medicine

Uganda Christian University will launch the UCU School of Medicine (UCUSoM) on September 14th, 2018 at the Archbishop’s Gardens in Namirembe.

The guest of honour during the launch will be the Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda (Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda).

Also in attendance will be the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda and Chancellor Uganda Christian University (UCU) The Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali, UCU Vice Chancellor Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi among other dignitaries. The function starts at 9:30 am with the arrival of guests.

A total of 62 students make up the pioneer UCUSoM classes. They include 35 female and 27 male students. They joined UCU on August 20th 2018 and started classes a week later on August 28th, 2018 following successful orientation sessions.

Their admission follows the accreditation of UCU to teach Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBchB) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in February 2018. Most of the students – 53 students are doing MBchB while 9 students are doing BDS.

The launch will also double as a fundraising for UCUSoM.
