The treason case involving Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Ssentongo Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has been adjourned to Monday December 3rd, The Tower Post reports.
Bobi Wine, together with 34 others who are charged with treason were appearing before the Grade One Magistrate’s court in Gulu on Monday morning.
The magistrate made the decision to adjourn for three months following a prayer that was made by the defence requesting for that time.
Among the charged, two of them are still on remand while the rest were released on bail.
Prosecution however had earlier objected the 3 months’ adjournment saying it would be unfair for the two who are still on remand.
“It’s common practice that when someone is on remand be brought to court atleast once in a fortnight. We therefore request that we keep the normal court routine and remand for utmost a month,” prosecution prayed.
But defence led by Asuman Basalirwa confirmed that they were in a process of securing bail for the remaining two and that they would be released sooner than later.
“We already have a meeting secured with the High Court judge and we are meeting him after this session. We are just going to agree on a date due to his busy schedule. I can guarantee that the two will be released on bail sooner than later,” defence submitted.
The case has since been adjourned to December 3rd.
