Court Issues Criminal Summons Against Bobi Wine, Here is Why

Buganda Road Court has issued criminal summons against Kyadondo East legislator and Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi, The Tower Post reports.

The court which was sitting on Wednesday morning blamed the Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine for failure to show up in court for mention of his case where he is charged of holding an unlawful assembly last year.

Kyagulanyi is charged together with Dr. David Lule also known as Selector Davie and three others who were the ring leaders of the street demonstrations against the introduction of Over The Top Services tax famously known as Social Media tax.

Defense lawyers lawyers led by Kiwanuka Abdullah of Lukwago and Company advocates asked court to adjourn the matter since their clients were unable to appear because they had travelled late from upcountry last night.

He also requested court to order that prosecution serves them all relevant documents so as to prepare for the defence in time.

Court adjourned the matter to 12th August and prosecution was ordered to serve the defense with all the relevant documents not later than today.

Other suspects who were present in court were Nyanzi Fred Sentamu and Eddie Sebbufu aka Eddie Mutwe.

Prosecution contends that Hon Kyagulanyi and Lule in July 2018 disobeyed sections of the Public Order Management Act by holding a public meeting at City Square in Kampala without adhering to the required criteria.
