dfcu Bank’ Royal Blue team was recently crowned as the overall winner of the just concluded Bankers’ Sports Gala that happened at Nambole National Stadium.

The 20th edition of the Uganda Institute of Banking and Financial Services annual sports gala saw dfcu’s men and women’s Royal Blues team collect 220 points in a combined format of various sports that included; basketball, netball, darts, two-legged race, chess, badminton, pool, table tennis and volleyball among others.

The awards were graced by the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, Louis Kasekende who was the Guest of Honor. He congratulated all the participants and encouraged the bankers to continue partaking in such team-building exercise that will grow their connections and network in the industry.

Wilbrod Owor, the Executive Director of Uganda Bankers Association, also commended the bankers and applauded them for ensuring the success of the gala and their continued participation year in year out.

Speaking after receiving the winners’ award, dfcu Bank’s, Managing Director, Mathias Katamba, said; “We are honoured to have been awarded as the overall winners in this year’s gala. This was a great team effort. I congratulate the dfcu Bank team and all the teams that participated in the gala and I hope we are back here next year to defend our title.”

“The games remind us that we should keep fit even after so that we keep healthier and better. In the coming years, we will work on having our colleagues from the East African region participate and we hope this will come to pass,” he added.
