Lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi is seeking shs95 million to fund the age limit case which he filed before the East African Court of Justice.
Male says he has a pile of debts on printing, photocopying and biding of authorities and other documents filed in court. He says he also has debts on travel, among other expenses that have come during the first phase of the case.
The first phase of the case ended last month. Male says his initial budget was shs394million, “I revised my budget from shs394 million to shs114 million and now I need shs95 million.”
Mabirizi wants Ugandans to assist him to fundraise for the needed money.
Mabirizi filed his appeal in May seeking a declaration that process of passing the Age Limit Act was null and void. In his appeal, Mabirizi cited Articles 6 and 7 of the Treaty of Establishment of the East African Community.
Mabirizi wants to halt the 2021 presidential elections until the hearing of his case is over.
