Elections for Special Interest Groups (SIGS) have been postponed, the Electoral Commission boss has announced.
Special interest groups include; old persons, persons with disabilities and the youth from village to national level. The elections were scheduled to start with nominations of candidates this April, 2020.
The postponement has been made as a result of the ongoing shutdown of mass gatherings in the country, as a measure to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus,” EC boss Justice Simon Byabakama relayed in a letter.
Byabakama says a new date will be revealed when the commission deems it necessary.
A number of activities have been affected by outbreak of coronavirus including concerts, conferences and more. In Ethiopia the EC there was forced to postpone presidential elections.
