DP president, Nobert Mao has officially announced that he will be on the ballot as a presidential candidate come 2021.
Mao relayed his intentions on Thursday. “I have the potential to stand, and the constitution allows me to stand as a Ugandan. I have all the qualifications for that position.”
Mao scoffed at people doubting his potential, “People are saying I won’t even 1%. They are saying I do not have supporters but when I say I am going to contest for President there is a lot of discussion on the matter. Why is it so?” he wondered.
Mao will contest against Gen Mugisha Muntu, Maureen Kyalya, Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Lt. Gen Henry Tumukunde, Joseph Kabuleta and others that are yet to come up.
It won’t be the first time Mao is vying for Presidency.
His announcement folds hope that there could be a coalition between the opposition leaders. In 2016, Mao rallied behind Amama Mbabazi under TDA.
