Rally Behind the Approved Candidates – Zaake Asks Dropped NUP Primaries’ Losers

On Monday, National Unity Platform (NUP) released a list of candidates that it would front in the 2021 general elections after the party primaries. Many big wigs like Musician Eddy Yawe heavily lost which prompted many top party officials to oppose the results.

However, Mityana Municipality MP, Hon. Francis Zaake who also happened to be one of the winners in the NUP Primaries asked colleagues to use proper ways of addressing their differences instead of tearing the party apart.

“I advise all the aggrieved individuals to lodge in their appeals before our party electoral commission so that they may be heard. We at NUP ensure transparency in whatever we do,” Zaake said.

Zaake added that instead of causing tension within the party, all losers should instead stand behind their comrades that won the primaries so as to realize a common goal.

In the latest list of NUP flag bearers, a number of candidates where dropped by the Party vetting committee. For some areas with stiff competition like Rubaga North and Kawempe North, results have not yet been released which has caused much tension among aspirants.
