More details have continued to emerge in the case of a double homicide in Kabowa, Ssabagabo Makindye Division where two people were killed and their bodies dumped in a septic tank at a house belonging to city businessman Charles Tumwine.
According to security reports, both Patrick Turyasingura who is Tumwiine’s in-law and Roland Akandinda a former guard at the businessman’s residence were murdered by a fellow security guard Geoffrey Duku who also worked at the house.
Turyasingura’s body was retrieved from a septic tank at the said house on January 29th 2022 after he was reported missing on January 26th.
Akandinda’s body was also retrieved from the same house on February 3rd, barely a week after retrieval of the first body.
Reports indicate that after murdering the duo, Duku who had been a guard at the residence for over five years fled the place and is still on the run. He is believed to have used Uganda’s porous borders and fled to Eldoret in neighboring Kenya.
The double murders had earlier led to the arrest of Tumwine’s wife Naome Busingye and his son Norman Muhangi. Tumwine also reported himself to Katwe Police Station where he made a statement about the issue and was subsequently arrested.
In his statement, he revealed that Duku could have murdered Turyasingura because of UGX600,000 which the latter had received from his mother to process papers for his travel to work abroad.
Tumwiine further revealed that Duku and Akandinda [the second victim] were involved in stealing construction materials at his site and could have had disagreements in sharing proceeds.
In the meantime, Tumwine, his wife Busingye and his son Muhangi are free on Police bond as security continues to pursue the suspected murderer.
