The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has been honored with the prestigious “Government Agency of the Year” award at the KACITA Quality Awards 2025, outshining respected nominees including Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

The KACITA Quality Awards recognize individuals and institutions dedicated to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction across diverse sectors.

This recognition is a demonstration of URSB’s commitment to fostering a thriving business environment through strong public–private partnerships and streamlined services. As the national agency entrusted with business and intellectual property registration, insolvency management, and related services, URSB plays a critical role in enabling enterprises in Uganda to formalize and thrive.

Under the dedicated leadership of our team leader, Registrar General, Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, URSB has embarked on a bold transformation journey, digitizing processes, expanding access, and enhancing service delivery efficiency. Notably, the service of the business registration process, including the launch of a user-friendly online registration system, has already enabled thousands of entrepreneurs to formalize their businesses, access financing, and unlock new economic opportunities.

Winning this award, especially at a ceremony that celebrates excellence across Uganda’s public and private sectors, marks a major milestone for URSB.

It validates the bureau’s efforts to institutionalise quality, responsiveness, and innovation. It also vitalizes us to push harder in realizing our vision of a seamless, accessible, and business-friendly registration environment.

Aligned with this momentum, URSB has launched a nationwide mass awareness campaign to increase uptake of our registration services. This initiative is central to the URSB 5-Year Strategic Plan, through which we aim to establish URSB as a Centre of Excellence in business facilitation.

By raising awareness, simplifying registration, and supporting entrepreneurs, URSB aspires to foster formalisation, stimulate job creation, and contribute significantly to Uganda’s economic growth.
