Fire Outbreak at Mogas fuel station in Seeta

A fire has broken out at Mogas fuel station in Seeta along the Kampala–Mukono highway, prompting an emergency response from the Police Fire and Rescue Services.

Firefighters were deployed to the scene and are currently working to extinguish the blaze as thick smoke and traffic disruption spread across the busy highway.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the incident, saying police had swiftly responded to contain the situation.

“The Police Fire and Rescue Services have responded to a fire outbreak at Mogas, Seeta. Efforts to extinguish the fire are currently ongoing, and the exact cause of the incident will be communicated in due course,” Owoyesigyire said.

He added that the firefighting operations have affected normal traffic flow in the area, causing congestion and delays for motorists.

The Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has since advised road users to avoid the affected section and use alternative routes.

Motorists from Mukono heading to Kampala have been urged to divert via Seeta–Sonde Road through Namugongo, while those from Kampala to Mukono are advised to use Jinja Road through Namanve Industrial Park or the Northern Bypass via Naalya–Sonde–Seeta.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to fully contain the fire, with investigations expected to determine its cause once the situation is brought under control.
