Police Bans Bobi Wine Music Shows Over Age Limit, Mukono Promoter in Tears

Police in Kampala has denied popular musician and politician Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, permission to hold shows or perform at other singers’ shows over Age Limit.

The Fire Base Entertainment singer was scheduled to perform at subsequent “Specioza live Concert” in Mukono on Saturday (October 21) after the successful main event at One Love Beach in Busabala on Sunday.

However the organizer of the Mukono Concert, a one Juma Balunywa of Balunywa Promotions received notice from Frank Mwesigwa, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander on Tuesday that the show had been banned.

“Unfortunately we are not granting permission for the show because during the previous show at One love Beach at Busabala, he uttered words that are inciteful to the public and he is now under investigations,” the notice read.

Bobi Wine at Sunday’s concert at one Love Beach defied Police’s instructions not to turn the music show in to a political rally.

The singer during his performance would stop singing and talk about the Age Limit bill.

Promoter Balunywa says police was unfair to ban Saturday’s show because he has spent over Shs 50 million in making preparations.

“Police should be mindful of us the promoters while making some of these decisions. I have incurred over Shs 50 million to pay the artiste, advertize the show and book the venue. If they have a problem with Bobi Wine, they should discuss with him,” Balunywa said.

“Bobi Wine should also understand that he is a politician and a musician at the same time, and should not mix the two,” he added.

The Tower Post understands that Balunywa has now contacted his lawyers in an effort to seek legal action on the matter.
