Popular Ugandan singer Edrisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo has been voted the Best Male East African Artiste at the 2017 All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) held on Sunday evening at the Convention Centre Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
Eddy Kenzo beat top East African artistes including, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Alikiba and Kenyan rapper Octopizzo among others with whom he was nominated in the same category, to win the award.
At the same awards, the Big Talent Entertainment singer’s ‘Biology Album’ was voted the Album of the Year, beating Nigerian music star Wizkid’s ‘Sounds From The Other Side’ and Fally Ipupa’s ‘Tokoos’ to mention but a few.
Sharing his excitement via Facebook, Eddy kenzo thanked his fans for their support, saying, “from the bottom of my heart I wanna thank you (fans) so much for being part of this greatest success. I have had sleepless nights hustling tirelessly to make sure we go an extra mile every time”.
“Winning best male East Africa and best album at the Afrima shows how great our God is and how He works in ways we cannot see. This is not for me alone but for Uganda, East Africa and Africa generally. To all my fellow East African artists, let’s work so hard to get more of these for our continent,” he added.
The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) aim to promote the distinct rich African music worldwide, engaging millions of fans by propelling African music to glorious pinnacles beyond the borders of Africa.
