Spedag Interfreight has once again partnered with the MTN Kampala Marathon as the official logistics partner.
The company on Monday 13th November 2017, announced it would boost the MTN Kampala Marathon with UGX50m.
The contribution marks the third year Spedag Interfreight is supporting MTN Kampala Marathon.
During the cheque handover ceremony at the Spedag Interfreight head offices in Nakawa, the Spedag Interfreight officials confirmed their participation in providing end to end logistical support for this year’s marathon.
“It is our pleasure to join MTN Uganda for the third year running in providing logistical support to this special marathon that is well known in supporting charitable causes. This year we have given a total of UGX 50 million of which UGX 30 million will cater for in-kind logistical services while UGX 20 million is in cash to support the causes of improving maternal health and reducing child exposure to cancer caused by asbestos roofing,” said Mr. Dino Schmitz, General Manager of Spedag Interfreight Uganda Limited.
This year they will be involved in providing full end-to-end logistics which among other things involves moving marathon kits, timing equipment and water from the MTN warehouses to the different points of distribution, mainly which are based at MTN Uganda and its various service centers and the main marathon route itself.
Spedag Interfreight will also provide transport services for the route survey conducted by Uganda Athletics Federation and MTN Uganda officials. They also do provide transportation and coordination to the race marshals and race volunteers on the ground.

According to Sandra Kobusingye, Head Legal and Administration at Spedag Interfreight, the company has confirmed 245 employees will also take part in the run.
“Apart from the logistical support, we are happy to have our employees engaged in this worthy cause that the MTN Uganda Kampala marathon stands for,” she said.
Other sponsors so far include Stanbic Bank Uganda who in October contributed UGX 225 million and Coca-Cola Beverages Africa Uganda (CBAU) who made a contribution of UGX 150 million.
Registration for the MTN Kampala Marathon, which is in its 14th year of operation, is still ongoing and interested participants can pay via mobile money platform by dialing *165*1*5#. This year is special in that one can select their cause that they are supporting. Registration using mobile money costs only UGX 23,000 while it costs UGX 25,000 when one visits any MTN service center to pay and register in cash.
