Police Deploys in Kayunga as Semwanga Funeral Programme is Released

Police in Kayunga has cautioned individuals intending to cause chaos at the burial of businessman Ivan Semwanga to not think about stepping foot there because they will be dealt with.

Speaking to journalists on Monday evening, Kayunga District Police Commander Moses Willy said the force is ready to apprehend who ever intends to disturb the peace of the mourners.

“I am warning whoever is planning to come here with the aim of stealing; we shall arrest them and they shall face the law,” he said.

Several high profile individuals are expected to attend Semwanga’s burial and as a result, thieves will be targeting to steal their valuables from them as they mourn their colleague.

Among the top celebrities expected at the funeral is Tanzanian star singer Diamond Platnumz who is also husband to Semwanga’s ex-wife, Zari Hassan.

The DPC further revealed that he had ordered bars close to Semwanga’s home to not sell any alcohol on the day of burial to maintain order in the neighbourhood.

Semwanga died on Thursday May 25th after suffering stroke that put him into comma for close to 12 days.

His body arrived in Kayunga on Monday at exactly 3:30 pm amid cries and wails from relatives.

He will be laid to rest today, Tuesday May 30th.

12pm – 1pm: Funeral Service

1pm – 4pm: Speaches and Laying Wreaths

4pm: Burial
