Family members have revealed the last moments of fallen veteran politician Maj (Rtd) Edward Rurangaranga.

Rurangaranga collapsed dead at his home at Kitanjojo, Kitagata in the western Uganda district of Sheema in the wee hours of Tuesday.

It has now emerged that Rurangaranga had attended a friend’s funeral in neighbouring Ntungamo district earlier in the day.

In fact the former Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party national chairman eulogised his fallen friend at about 3pm during the funeral.

According to Winfred, Rurangaranga’s widow, her husband returned to their home at about 5pm.

She added that Rurangaranga seemed fine until the family received visitors and the 85-year old former Milton Obote confidant complained of weakness and tiredness.

He would collapse dead hours later.
