Cyber Police in Kampala has in its custody two Old Kampala Secondary School students who have been impersonating female musician Rema Namakula.
According to the singer, the two students Joel kamoga (16) and Ismail Ziwa (17) have been obtaining money from the public using her name.
“These two young boys have been coning people using my name for more than a year. They are both students at old Kampala Secondary school. They have been getting money from upcoming artists for promotion and collabo,” Rema wrote on Facebook.
She added that the boys have also conned people with functions, promising to bring her to perform. “These boys have cards plus a stamp all in my names.”
The singer has warned the public against such con men, saying “please don’t be fooled, I don’t beg for money from my fans at any point so do it at your own risk. I apologize to those that have fallen victim to this foolery”.
