Patrick Amuriat Wins FDC Presidential Race

Former Member of Parliament Patrick Amuriat Oboi was declared winner of Friday’s Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party Presidential Election.

Amuriat beat incumbent party President Gregory Mugisha Muntu who was seeking his second and final term in office.

Amuriat garnered 641 votes while Gen Muntu got 463. The other candidates Moses Byamugisha and Dan Matsiko got 3 and 2 votes respectively.

FDC party Electoral Commission chairman Dan Mugarura announce the results at a few minutes to midnight amidst cheers and jubilation from Amuriat’s supporters.

Amuriat who now becomes the third FDC party President takes over from Gen Mugisha Muntu. Muntu took over from Dr Kiiza Besigye in 2012.
