Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has suspended Monday suspended six opposition Members of Parliament, MP Semujju Nganda, Allan Sewanyana, Mubarak Munyagwa, Jonathan Odur, Anthony Akol and Gerald Karuhanga for disrupting the special session on the Age Limit Bill.
Kadaga ordered the MPs not to return to the chambers in the next session after adjourning the house to 2:00PM.
The MPs had disrupted second reading of the bill and presentation of the report on the bill by Legal Affairs Committee Chairperson Jacob Oboth Oboth.
The bill moved by Igara County West MP Raphael Magyezi, seeks among other things, to delete the upper age limit in article 102b of the constitution to allow anyone to stand for president beyond the age of 75.
Born in 1944 and in power since 1986, President Museveni will be over 75 and therefore ineligible for reelection when Uganda next goes to the polls in 2021.
