Thousands of partiers ushered in the New Year 2018 in true style with a music and cocktail celebration hosted by Uganda Waragi.
Held on Sunday night at the Sheraton Kampala Gardens, the exciting celebration dubbed the UG Mix Dance Party kicked off a few minutes after 5pm and lasted until the wee hours of the morning. The celebration is an annual Uganda Waragi-sponsored tradition, organized by Balaam Events and it dates back to 2001.
The transition to the new year was marked with impressive music and dance performances from renowned artistes on Uganda’s music scene including Red Banton, duo Radio and Weasel, Big Eye, Nince Henry and Eddie Kenzo. Music kings, Chameleone, Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine took centre stage at the event.
Speaking at the event, Uganda Waragi Brand Manager, Agaba Tumusiime expressed his excitement saying “We are thrilled to be celebrating the 16th edition of the UG Mix Dance Party, an event that has made its mark on Kampala’s social calendar. Uganda Waragi is glad to usher in the New Year with Ugandans in this annual urban nightlife experience.”
At the stroke of midnight, with Chameleone and Eddy Kenzo on stage, the skies lit up with a stunning display of color as the Kampala Sheraton Hotel let off fireworks in a spectacular 5-minute display. Excited revelers who had anxiously awaited the midnight display rejoiced and danced and cheered on as they bid goodbye to 2017 and hailed the arrival of 2018.
