Hundreds of mourners on Tuesday (January 9th, 2018) gatherered at Namugongo Protestant Martyrs’ Shrine to attend the burial of retired former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Nkoyoyo
Archbishop Nkoyoyo succumbed to cancer of the esophagus on Friday at Kampala Hospital.
Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira of Namirembe Diocese led the prayers.
The burial was attended by religious leaders from different denominations, Christians, government officials like Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Sekandi, who represented President Yoweri Museveni and Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda.
Other politicians including opposition figure Col Dr Kizza Besigye and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to mention but a few, were also in attendance.
Nkoyoyo served as Archbishop of the Church of Uganda between 1995 and 2004.
