DP’s Mao Speaks Out on Arua Shooting

The President of the Democratic Party (DP) Nobert Mao has come out to condemn police’s use of lethal force in Arua that resulted into the death of Yasin Kawuma, a driver of Bobi Wine.

Kawuma was shot and killed by Police in a campaign rally on Monday evening. He was driving Bobi Wine’s car.

Bobi Wine, together with a couple of other politicians were in Arua to rally support for independent candidate Kasiano Wadri who seeks to replace Ibrahim Abiriga who was killed a few months back.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the violence and highhandedness of the Uganda Police and UPDF in the Arua Municipality by-elections,” the renowned politician wrote on his twitter timeline.

“We can’t go on like this! Let the security organs explain this,” Mao’s tweet read further.

By publication time, reports from the West Nile town indicated that several accomplices of Bobi Wine and Kasiano Wasri were being rounded up and arrested by security agents.
