General Court Martial Chairman Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti has Monday granted bail to former Police Director of Criminal Intelligence Col. Ndahura Atwooki, The Tower Post reports.

Col. Ndahura who has been under incarceration at Makindye Military barracks for close to 8 months is charged with failure to protect war materials and interfering with the process of law contrary to Section 166 of the UPDF Act 2005.

He is one of the 26 police and military officers who were arrested over suspected criminal activities orchestrated during the 13-year reign of former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura.

Prior to joining the Police, Col. Ndahura served as a commmander in the Presidential Protection Unit (PPU) now the Special Forces Command (SFC).

He was appointed to the Police in 2015 following a wave of violent crimes in the country which had been attributed to lack of intelligence by the police.

He would later be recalled by the army in March 2018 before his arrest.
