Mowzey Radio Killer Acquitted of Murder, Guilty of Manslaughter

Godfrey Wamala, the man who was accused of killing singer Moses Sekibogo alias Mowzey Radio has been acquitted of murder charges which the state had preferred against him.

Wamala alias Troy was arrested in early February, days after the death of the singer who was arguably the country’s leading vocalist.

He was charged with murder and remanded until today when he was acquitted.

He has however been found guilty of manslaughter, a case which is a lesser crime than murder.

In her ruling, Entebbe High Court Justice Jane Abodo said that the accused did not have malice aforethought to kill Mowzey despite the fact that the the singer died following a bar fight.

She further said that the accused did not waste court’s time as he admitted having been present at the scene.

Wamala however denied having laid a hand on the singer, saying he only saw two other men beating him up.

Despite his defense, Justice Jane Abodo found him guilty of manslaughter.

The case has been adjourned to Thursday October 31st when the justice will sentence the accused.

Manslaughter attracts a maximum sente of life imprisonment.
