One Confirmed Dead, Eight Injured as Police Speaks Out on Kiwatule Accident

One of the people who were involved in the Thursday morning accident in Kiwatule has been confirmed dead, Kampala Metropolitan Police has said.

William Matovu, 32, a rider, succumbed to wounds sustained from the accident scene. He had been rushed to Kampala Independent Hospital which a few meters from the accident scene.

Police further revealed that eight other people who were injured are still admitted under critical conditions.

The accident which involved 10 cars and two motorcycles occurred at around 8:30am as people rushed through traffic jam to work.

According to a statement posted by Kampala Metropolitan Police, a Sino truck Reg. No. UAX 495Mrammed into nine other vehicles after failing to brake.

The incident caused a slow traffic flow as the wreckages of the affected vehicles blocked the road.

Police went further to identify the cars which were affected in the accident which included;

The motorcycles affected by the accident were identified as having registration number plates; UGC 198S and UEN 075F.

Police said that the driver of the Sino truck that is believed to have caused the accident is currently on the run and that investigations are still ongoing to establish what exactly caused the accident.
