Nobert Mao’s Democratic Party has finally handed over the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) leadership to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)
The handover ceremony was held at Fairway Hotel on Wednesday.
The leadership of IPOD rotates from one party to another. Each party is supposed to hold leadership for a period of six months. DP’s time expired two months back but the party declined to hand over power to FDC saying that the party lacked commitment to the agendas of IPOD.
In a letter to the Fank Rusa, the Executive Secretary of IPOD, Mao notified him that his party was ready to hand over power but FDC had to first swear commitment.
There has been bickering between FDC and DP over how IPOD operates. Nandala Mafabi, however, promised during the handover ceremony that they were going to solve any outstanding misunderstandings internally.
The NRM party did not attend the handover ceremony
