Musician Yvonne Chaka Chaka has been deported by security and immigration.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga revealed on Tuesday that the singer who had jetted into the country for a music show dubbed Enkuka Y’Omwaka.
The show is organised by Buganda Kingdom in conjunction with music promoter, Abtex.
Chaka was escorted to Entebbe airport by the police, and seen off to South Africa.
“This to inform the public that the security task force in conjunction with immigration officials today escorted Ms. Mhinga Ntobizodwa Yvonne aka Yvonne Chaka Chaka to Entebbe International Airport where had an immediate flight to South Africa via Kigali,” Enanga said.
Enanga told the press that Chaka Chaka had come to Uganda on an ordinary tourist visa which doesn’t permit her to perform in any income-generating activities.
“She was advised along with her promoters to apply for a working visa to perform a working visa for her music performance and avoid the pretense of being an ordinary visitor which cannot enable her to perform in any income generating activities within the country,”
The singer performed in Uganda in July 2019 in a charity show at Serena Hotel where she met Bobi Wine whom he showered with praises.
She referred to him as the Nelson Mandela of Uganda.
