A total of 15 people have died on the spot following a road accident on Friday morning at Imanyiro village in Mayuge district.
According to James Mubi, the Busoga East Police spokesperson, the accident happened at around 4 am when a taxi (UBD 089A) that was travelling from Namayingo to Busia rammed into a sugarcane truck ( UWP 616) killing all occupants in the taxi
The cause of the accident is yet to established.
All the bodies of the deceased were taken to Mayuge Health Centre IV for post-Mortem examination.
Uganda registers about 20,000 accidents each year, with some 2,000 deaths, making it one of the countries with the highest road traffic death rates, according to police statistics
