People Power Leader Knocked Dead by Police Car

A leader of opposition People Power Movement has Monday been knocked and killed by a speeding police car, The Tower Post has learnt.

The news was revealed by the Movement’s leader and Presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine in a tweet fired on Monday afternoon.

He identified the deceased as Rita Nabukenya who he said was a leader in the movement but didn’t specify which designation she held in the group.

“Very sad day! Yet again, a leader of the People Power Movement has been murdered by the Museveni regime,” Mr. Wine tweeted.

In his tweet, Bobi Wine purports that Ms Nabukenya was killed because she was wearing a People Power attires (T-shirt and cap)

“Police officers in a patrol vehicle saw comrade Rita Nabukenya donning our attire, drove after her and knocked her dead in broad daylight. We must end this regime of blood,” he added.

The Tower Post couldn’t independently verify these claims.

But this website understands that Police has been seen to harass people who identify with the People Power pressure group and those who wear People Power attires including the red berets, caps and t-shirts.

Previously, a video was shared on social media showing police officers torturing a man, asking him why he was wearing People Power attires.

The video caused a lot of talkability which even attracted the attention of Parliament. But the case later died out.

Whether Bobi Wine’s claims are true remains to be determined.
